The role of Deputy Commissioner Practice Quality is firmly anchored in the NDIS Commission’s commitment to safeguard the wellbeing and rights of NDIS participants, and to improve the quality of NDIS services. The Deputy Commissioner Practice Quality will apply regulatory levers to address breaches and contraventions of the NDIS Act and the NDIS Rules. The role will guide the NDIS Commission to achieve practice excellence in clinical and behavioural support regulation. The Deputy Commissioner Practice Quality will have strong clinical credibility, a well-established reputation and professional networks, and a deep commitment to addressing systemic barriers related to the rights of people with a disability, particularly those who are subject to restricted practices. This leadership role demands a professional who can combine their clinical expertise and experience with innovative strategies to regulate NDIS providers and workers so as to enable quality outcomes for people with disability. The Deputy Commissioner Practice Quality is responsible for representing the Commission in whole of government processes in relation to the operation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The role assists the NDIS Commissioner to drive the vision and purpose of the NDIS Commission and leads the Commissioner’s priorities.
