Diabetes Educator - North Queensland Kidney Transplant Service Queensland Health (Organisation site)North Queensland Kidney Transplant Service, Medical Service Group, Townsville University Hospital Townsville Hospital and Health Service is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital. Townsville University Hospital , the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region. The purpose of this role is to provide high quality diabetes care and education to patients under the care of the NQKTS, including self-management strategies and support pre- and post-kidney transplant. Requirements: Nursing: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.Obtaining credentialing with the Australian Diabetes Educator Association (ADEA) is a requirement of this position. A graduate Certificate of Diabetes Education and Management (or similar as recognised by Australian Diabetes Educator Association) is essential to achieve this credential. Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate. HP: Possession of a tertiary degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognised tertiary institution and eligibility for membership with Dietitians Australia and the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) credential is a requirement for this role. HP: Possession of an Australian Diabetes Educators Association Accredited Graduate Certificate/ Diploma in Diabetes Education and Management and credentialed with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association or working towards same is a requirement for this role. Travel: This position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the NQKTS Networked HHSs to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities. Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty. Completion of training to deliver an accredited program in flexible insulin dose adjustment e.g., DAFNE (dose adjustment for normal eating) or another similar accredited program is highly desirable.
