Job Description

As a core member of the Customer Experience team, the Digital Accessibility Specialist is accountable for upholding accessibility standards, driving inclusive design practices and ensuring compliance with the latest WCAG guidelines. The role takes an end-to-end approach to inclusive design, improving the reach and usability of digital platforms for the widest possible audience—not just those with disabilities. Your day in the life of a Digital Accessibility Specialist at Optus Maintaining WCAG compliance, conducting regular accessibility audits, and encouraging innovation to build user-friendly, inclusive digital products. Ensure adherence to accessibility policies and legal requirements while proactively managing risks, resolving issues, and operating effectively under pressure. Requirement gathering and undertaking audits for websites and apps. Clearly communicating summaries and results from audits that can be easily understood by a broad audience (i.e. not purely technical), including key summaries and recommendations. Your skills to pay the bills Previous digital accessibility experience, specifically, WCAG, ARIA and an understanding of accessibility laws and standards, in relation to design systems and components. Proven exposure to conducting digital accessibility audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement. Familiarity with QA/Testing and crafting Acceptance criteria for functionality and A11Y compliance of a component. E-commerce, IT, Telco and/or experience working within a large organisation (highly desirable). A good understanding of UX/UI design principles.
