Shape the future of Design Systems at NAB As the Director, Design Systems you will: Drive the overall vision and execution of the Elevate Design System ensuring a seamless and scalable experience across our digital channels and hold accountability for the design and execution of the Elevate Design System. Deliver a unified design experience to help execute outstanding customer experiences. Partner with the business, Technology groups, vendors, and other CX functions to drive strategy and identify opportunities to create closer connections with our customers. Provide inspiration, leadership, and career development for NAB’s design practitioners, particularly with a focus on Design Systems. Be deeply embedded in complex problem-solving , balancing customer needs , business requirements , and regulatory considerations to create an intuitive and effective experience. What you’ll do: Define and drive the strategic direction of Elevate Design System, partnering, and understanding Group business requirements, strategies, and priorities to enable translation into strategies and operations plans. Sponsor and gain leadership team approval for strategic outcomes and achieve results with the Elevate team. Contribute directly to the strategic direction of nab.design Leadership Chapter. Ensure the maximum value is derived from our Global position in the market. Act as an advocate for the nab.design Chapter, via your Design System expertise, ensuring that Business Units are engaged to align their business needs with the group. Lead and motivate the team including role modeling behaviors, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and the identification of training and development needs. Contribute to and leverage NAB’s new design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across digital experiences. Communicate design decisions effectively, using visuals and storytelling to influence stakeholders and drive alignment. Work within a strong design community—sharing, critiquing, and growing alongside a team of talented designers. What you’ll bring: Demonstrated experience working as a Design Systems expert, ideally in complex industries such as banking, finance, fintech, insurance, or trading. Strong UX/UI skills, with a keen eye for visual design, typography, and layout. You bring good taste and know how to create polished, high-quality work. Experience designing for complex systems, where multiple user types and workflows need to be considered. A natural ability to communicate, aligning stakeholders across business and technology teams to drive great design outcomes. Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with design systems, ensuring scalable and maintainable designs. Curiosity and problem-solving skills—you don’t just execute, you think critically about how to improve experiences and challenge assumptions.
