Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) manages the financial needs of corporate, institutional and government clients that are based, or have interests in, Australia and New Zealand. Within WIB’s Energy, Infrastructure & Resources (EI&R) industry team, we aspire to provide high quality origination and delivery of customer and strategic insights for a diverse group of clients. Reporting to the Head of Energy, you’ll be highly motivated to work on new to bank acquisitions and service an existing complex and dynamic portfolio of customers while also achieving year-on-year and return on equity growth. The role also presents an opportunity to work as part of the broader team to lead WIB’s Renewable / Energy Strategy, and includes managing WIB’s origination, portfolio management and sponsor relationship activities. As a highly experienced Banker, this opportunity will enable you to accelerate your existing breadth of expertise in executing large market leading Institutional and Corporate debt products across the Energy sector portfolio. Experience with oil and gas will be advantageous. Responsibilities: Drive growth in the team’s loan book via high quality debt product origination and NPS growth. Drive client advocacy and showcase your technical expertise with relevant sector forums. Maintain sound credit quality of your assigned portfolio through proactive monitoring and developing appropriate corrective strategies as and when appropriate. Ensure adequate reporting and transparency to senior stakeholders so that they are aware of material and emerging risks impacting the portfolio, as well as significant transactions in pipeline and recent approvals. Contribute to talent development of the team for succession planning. What’s in it for me? What do I need to hit the ground running? This role suits somebody who: Has proven success of working cross collaboratively within a global team environment, coordinating with other industry sector coverage teams, Analysts, Risk, key product partners and stakeholders such as Legal, together with other banks in a club, project or bilateral setting. Has a sound understanding of project and corporate credit, including cash flow modelling and effective critical thinking and analytical skills. A proven understanding of the Energy & Infrastructure sectors in Australia, coupled with knowledge of Sustainability and Climate change related issues impacting the Energy sector. Has compelling communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate successful outcomes. Relevant degree/professionally qualified – Business/Finance/Accounting/CFA. Demonstrates strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at any given time. Has strong business acumen with a commercial mindset with driving value and efficiency gains through simplification opportunities. What’s it like to work in this team?
