Job Description
As the Director, Industrial Relations Policy and Legislation, you will work autonomously and lead the Policy and Legislation Unit in the Industrial Relations Directorate to: Manage and co-ordinate the policy and legislative framework for industrial relations. Provide strategic advice to senior management and the Minister that informs decision-making processes for improved industrial relations outcomes. Consult and collaborate within government and the wider community in the development and review of industrial relations policy. Ensure appropriate representation by the Queensland government in national and state tribunals on industrial matters affecting Queensland workers and employers. The position reports to the Executive Director, Industrial Relations. Minimum Requirements: Demonstrated thorough knowledge and significant achievement in providing strategic policy advice to Government on industrial relations issues, including the preparation of Cabinet submissions. Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills as applied to the research and analysis of complex policy problems and the implementation of major government policies, practices, and strategies. Highly developed leadership and team management skills as demonstrated by success in achieving objectives and in contributing to improved organisational performance in a demanding environment. High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills directed towards successful establishment and maintenance of relationships with stakeholders and the provision of high-level advice to the Minister, Director-General, and Government. Thorough knowledge of the functions and operations of Government in order to implement government policy objectives. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
