Director, School and Regional Capability (Behaviour) - Capability Education (Organisation site)Capability Branch - Schools and Student Support Division The Queensland Government has made a commitment to ensure schools are adequately resourced and empowered to maintain strong behavioural standards and support teachers to feel safe in Queensland schools. The Department will deliver on this commitment under the $207 million boost to Queensland's education system by supporting schools with tools, resources and professional learning from 2025. The Director, School and Regional Capability (Behaviour) will join the Student Support Branch to lead a number of projects to support student behaviour, including the development, delivery and evaluation of a suite of professional learning resources for all school staff. The temporary full-time role has an immediate start until 30 June 2027, unless otherwise determined. Base location of this role is Central Office, Brisbane. Job details Position status: Fixed Term Temporary Position type: Flexible full-time Occupational group: Education & Training Classification: SO Workplace Location: Brisbane Job ad reference: QLD/CO622323/25T Closing date: 11-Mar-2025 Yearly salary: $161770 - $169261 Fortnightly salary: $6200.60 - $6487.80 Job duration: Until 30 June 2027 unless otherwise determined Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage and coordinate business and project planning functions and provide strategic input into portfolio planning and reporting. Provide high level support and advice to senior departmental officers including preparation of project material in relation to client focused service delivery options across the division. Prepare, have oversight of and provide advice on high level submissions, reports, papers, statements, briefings and correspondence on complex issues related to the state schooling sector. Respond to and coordinate responses to complex and sensitive issues and complaints on behalf of the Ministers Office, Director-General and other agencies. Foster collaborative relationships across the department and with external stakeholders. Key Attributes The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes: Demonstrated effectiveness undertaking leadership roles in complex and sensitive environments. Demonstrated ability to provide accurate and timely advice often within tight timeframes. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, in a complex environment where there are multiple and sometimes competing agendas. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and present a range of solutions to complex issues. Demonstrated ability to gather information from a range of sources and undertake critical analysis. Demonstrated networking and collaborative skills across a range of stakeholders. Highly Desirable Skills and Experience Highly desirable skills and experience: Teaching and/or education experience or an understanding of, and experience involving, Queensland's state schools. Proven experience in the delivery of adult professional learning. A demonstrated strong ability to develop sensitive and practical responses to complex issues and the ability to provide advice to senior staff where issues of quality, timeliness, sensitivity and confidentiality are paramount.
