Job Description

Role Description The Director Strategic Intelligence and Capabilities leads and manages the Commission’s intelligence capability, including several specialist teams responsible for delivering intelligence services. The role supports Commission and partner agency investigations through the provision of key intelligence capabilities and services such as human intelligence, data analytics, and technical surveillance, and ensures effective governance of those operational capabilities. The role also drives intelligence projects to inform strategic decision making and policy development. The role works closely with the Director Investigations and the Executive Director Operations and forms part of the Commission’s Executive Leadership Team. Essential Requirements Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent work experience in a similar role within the government or private sector. Senior experience leading an intelligence capability and services, in a law enforcement, national security, regulatory, or other relevant environment, including contributing as an expert providing advice with an intelligence perspective to strategic decision-making. Demonstrated ability and experience in leading and supporting high performing teams dealing with large volumes of time-critical work in a changing and complex environment. Experience managing budgets and business planning. Superior interpersonal, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of people at all levels. Highly developed written communication, organisational, and analytical and creative/intuitive problem-solving skills. High-level judgement and an ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion. Demonstrated ability and experience in leading, managing, coaching, guiding, and mentoring others and contributing effectively to a multi-disciplinary environment. Detailed understanding of law enforcement responses to organised and other serious crime, relevant current affairs, and the role and functions of the Commission.
