Diversity and Inclusion Advisor Affirmative Measures – Indigenous/Disability The Diversity and Inclusion Advisor position reports to the Recruitment, Diversity and Inclusion Team Leader. This role works collaboratively with all CASA employees to ensure diversity and inclusion is implemented throughout our workforce. This position is based in Canberra and is only available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, or people with a disability. The filling of this position is intended to constitute an affirmative measure under section 8(1) of the 'Racial Discrimination Act 1975' or section 27 of the Australian Public Service Commissioner's Directions 2016. The role involves interacting with both managers, staff, external applicants, recruitment providers and associated suppliers of services on a daily basis and as such it is essential candidates have exemplary communication, management and customer service skills. The Diversity and Inclusion Advisor is responsible for: Supporting the functions of CASA's diversity committees and working groups. Supporting CASA to deliver on its Inclusion initiatives preparing talking points for Chairs and senior executives. Room preparation and ensuring technology functions (videoconference, teleconference). Liaising with key stakeholders internally and externally to organise and manage CASA-hosted events. Organising and managing diversity-specific training for CASA. Communicating effectively with diversity committee members, diversity networks and senior staff, escalating complex issues to relevant Team Managers. Assisting with diversity and inclusion events management. Managing the Diversity mailbox effectively. Promoting workplace safety, equity and diversity, participative management and environmental management in the workplace and act in accordance with CASA’s Values and Behaviours. Working in genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve shared outcomes. Engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in a sensitive and equitable manner. Working supportively and cooperatively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to achieve shared outcomes. As an employee, contribute to maintaining a positive health and safety culture at CASA, including psychosocial wellbeing in the workplace and provide input, where appropriate, to decisions that may impact upon health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace. Our ideal candidate must demonstrate the following: Excellent communication (written and oral) skills with the ability to manage relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, which are built on credibility and trust. Demonstrated understanding of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures, and their issues and to be able to communicate respectfully with them. Tertiary qualifications in the areas of human resource management, occupational psychology or business management would be highly regarded. Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking abilities, supported by effective stakeholder engagement skills across all levels. Eligibility requirements Employment with CASA is subject to conditions prescribed within the Civil Aviation Act 1988. The following eligibility requirements apply to this position: At minimum, prospective CASA employees must undergo pre-employment screening. You must be willing to provide required information to successfully undergo a police record check. Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
