Our client is one of four critical departments that support the highest level of government – the Australian Parliament. They support the functioning of Australian Parliament and the work of parliamentarians through innovative, unified and client focused services.The Opportunity There is an opportunity for an EL1 Assistant Director of Procurement to join the Department. This is a newly created role in a newly centralised procurement function. The aim of the centralisation is to streamline processes and have procurement advice coming from a single source.The role is available on a permanent s26 transfer (for candidates that are currently permanent in the APS) or a 12-month non-ongoing contract (for candidates that aren’t currently permanent in the APS).You’ll benefit from having access to free car parking and free gym access.The Role Manage a small team that provides advice and assistance in procurement, contract management and other business processes Provide advance specialist advice on procurement and contract related matters across the Department Lead complex procurement and contract related activities that are fundamental to the day-to-day operations of the Department, using best practice and judgment Prepare and review a range of written material including reports, contracts, procurement documentation, Senate Estimates briefs, questions on notice and executive briefings Develop and deliver procurement and contract management training to staff to build capability and capacity Maintain and administer the procurement and contract management tools and processes including preparation of policies, guides, templates, and procedures Provide leadership and mentor staff within the Quality Management section Represent the section at the highest levels, including dealing with other departments, contractors and other stakeholders The Ideal Person The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in procurement and contract management within a Commonwealth government environment.You will also have:Demonstrated high level administration skills and the ability to oversee the development of contemporary procurement and contract management process An understanding of the strategic objectives of the department and an ability to develop work plans accordingly Proven ability to communicate with influence and ability to nurture productive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders Experience managing junior APS-level staff To be eligible for this role you must: Be an Australian citizen Have a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance Salary / Rate $119k – 134k + 15.4% Super Permanent s26 transfer or 12-month non-ongoing contract Office location in Canberra How to Apply To apply online, please click on the appropriate link.Alternatively, for a confidential discussion, please contact Liz Strachan on 02 6108 4878 quoting ref no. 20248.
