About the Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Director, External Communications to lead a team of media and communication professionals. This senior leadership position is responsible for developing and delivering whole-of-agency communication strategies that engage internal and external audiences, promote AUSTRAC’s priorities, and support change management programs. You will collaborate closely with senior executives, business areas, and external stakeholders, providing strategic advice to ensure consistent, impactful, and effective messaging. In this role, you’ll lead the charge in shaping AUSTRAC’s external voice, evaluating the success of communication initiatives, and driving continuous improvement. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a high-performing Director with demonstrated expertise in communications leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality communication outcomes. Exceptional skills in developing and implementing communication strategies across diverse channels and audiences. Strong ability to foster collaboration and influence senior stakeholders to achieve communication objectives. A commitment to innovation, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing effective communications solutions. Excellent interpersonal and team management skills, with experience in staff performance and development. Duties and Responsibilities Lead the External Communications team to develop and deliver communication strategies that engage external audiences and support AUSTRAC’s organisational priorities. Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and drive continuous improvement. Support change management programs through tailored communication initiatives. Foster and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, partner agencies, and external organisations to enhance collaboration. Oversee the performance and development of team members, managing resources and budgets effectively. Ensure high-quality delivery of externally sourced products and services, managing procurement and budget administration.
