Economic & Financial Analyst - Energy Regulation (APS5/APS6) 07th March, 2025 Job Title: Economic & Financial Analyst - Energy Regulation (APS5/APS6) Location : Sydney and Melbourne CBDWork Schedule : 50% Work from Home, 50% In OfficeContract Duration : 3-month and 6-month contracts availableSalary : APS5: $60-65 per hour + Super APS6: $70-80 per hour + Super About the Role We are looking for talented and driven Economic & Financial Analysts to join our team at either the APS5 or APS6 level to assess capital and operating expenditure proposals from regulated energy network businesses. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to ensuring fair and efficient energy pricing for Australian consumers.In this role, you will work in a dynamic environment, assessing expenditure proposals from gas and electricity businesses. You will play a key role in delivering better outcomes for consumers, while working with a variety of stakeholders, including network businesses, technical consultants, and regulatory bodies.As an APS5 or APS6 Regulatory Analyst, you will: Assess Expenditure Proposals : Review and evaluate capital and operational expenditure (CapEx and OpEx) proposals from regulated energy network businesses to ensure efficiency, compliance, and fairness in pricing. Conduct Financial & Economic Analysis : Use your analytical skills to perform detailed financial modelling, cost-benefit analysis, and quantitative analysis to assess large capital projects, operating expenditure, and ongoing costs of staff and employees. Engage with Stakeholders : Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, including network businesses, technical consultants, and regulatory teams to assess proposals and gather necessary information. Draft Regulatory Documents : Contribute to the preparation of regulatory reports, decision papers, and Board papers that support the agency's decision-making process. Support the Agency's Mission : Play an essential role in ensuring energy pricing and regulatory decisions are fair, transparent, and in the best interests of consumers. What We're Looking For Experience :APS5 level requires 2-3 years of relevant experience in regulatory analysis, financial modelling, or policy development. APS6 level requires 4-5 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in a similar regulatory or financial analysis role. Background : A degree or background in Economics, Finance, Law, Engineering, Mathematics, Commerce/Accounting, or a related field. Skills :Proficiency in advanced Excel skills (required for financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting). Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and energy industry concepts, including CapEx and OpEx. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to interact with diverse external and internal stakeholders. Ability to interpret complex financial and technical data. Desirable Experience : Experience in government, energy, infrastructure, or financial services sectors would be highly regarded. Why Join Us?
