Job Description

Education Manager - Concussion and Community, SA Sports Medicine Association SA Sports Medicine Association (SASMA) is a multi-disciplinary membership-based organisation inclusive of all medical, allied health professions, sports trainers, teachers and others with an interest in sport and recreation. We provide professional development and education services in community health and wellbeing to the sporting community and broader industry. We are a not-for-profit community education and industry service provider and values-based organisation. We promote and support safe involvement in Sport, Exercise and Activity at all levels and ages through connecting and informing our valued members, the community and our partners. We aim to build a network of integral partnerships across sport, government and business, creating a safe and dynamic environment for active communities. The Education Manager – Concussion and Community reports to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for coordinating, managing and expanding this program to members, the community and increasing the accessibility of the concussion education program and community sports medicine courses throughout South Australia. Important skills: Strong and engaging presentation skills are paramount to this position, along with a background in sport, experience in the health industry, excellent time management and coordination skills with the ability to network and market education. A demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and customers, including the ability to speak and present in public is essential for the role. Relevant Tertiary Education Qualification preferably in a Sport and Recreation, Health or Education area is desirable, but not essential depending on experience. Marketing and communication knowledge skills are desirable. Key outcomes for the role: Oversee the delivery, promotion and long-term sustainability of the three-year SASMA Community Concussion Project with the Concussion Steering Committee. Be the SASMA representative and conduit with the Concussion Steering Committee, managing meetings and administrative duties. Identify new and engage with existing partners to grow the Concussion Education Program with the view of enhancing income streams for ongoing sustainability of this program. Review, develop and coordinate the roll out of the Concussion Project courses across SA. Develop and coordinate new and ongoing Professional Development opportunities for members and sports trainers to be involved with concussion education (e.g., Conferences, Sports Trainers Courses, Professional education evenings, newsletters, social media etc). Upskill SASMA staff, presenters on community education. Presenting and assessing at Concussion and Community Education Courses and workshops/conferences. Assist with logistics supporting the Concussion education program, the community education program /other events. Assist with administration and reporting of the concussion project/other. Assist with the content, coordination, updates and management of the Community Services programs. Develop and coordinate new ongoing educational opportunities for the community education program including via online training sessions and resources, and workshops (specifically schools, Universities, clubs). Assist with maintaining and increasing the course presenter, stakeholder database. Train and recruit members to assist with the Concussion and Community Education Program. Build strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders. Identify new members and liaise with existing partners to grow membership services. Guide and provide support to the overarching SASMA Education Program and connection to the Education Working Party. This role would suit someone with previous experience in facilitating and delivering education programs. A demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and customers, including the ability to speak and present in public is essential for the role. Relevant Tertiary Education Qualification preferably in Sport, Health, Education or Recreation is desirable; experience in these roles is also valued. Marketing and communication skills are desirable. The position is full time (75 hours per fortnight) including out of hours / weekend work required (toil negotiated) and will commence with a one-year contract (3-month probationary period) with five weeks of annual leave.
