What we are looking for: We are seeking a passionate Education Program Officer to support and deliver the Let’s Get It Sorted (LGIS) Partnership Program. This State-funded initiative aims to improve waste literacy and drive positive behavioural change across the Fraser Coast community. Working within the Resource Recovery team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing education and engagement strategies that align with Council and State waste management and resource recovery goals. What your day will look like: Deliver community-wide waste education and behaviour change programs under the LGIS framework. Collect, monitor, and analyse data related to waste and recycling behaviours, maintaining an operational database. Develop and implement communication and education plans to enhance waste literacy. Prepare reports on program progress, statistics, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders. Assist in community engagement activities, including events, workshops, and presentations. Provide administrative support for kerbside inspections and waste education initiatives. Ensure compliance with Council’s safety policies and procedures. What you’ll need for success: Qualification (AQF Level 5 or above) in environmental science, waste management, community engagement, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience. Current Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain). Current Queensland Driver’s Licence. Understanding of waste management, resource recovery, and behaviour change principles. Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills, including experience with operational databases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and the broader community. High-level organisation and analytical skills, with the ability to assess project viability and plan effectively. Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism and sound judgement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to navigate corporate software systems. What’s nice to have: Experience in local government waste management and resource recovery services.
