Drug Health's Blood Borne Virus Program works to decrease the spread of blood borne viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis C principally through the provision of testing services to people who inject drugs and information, advice and referral into treatment services. Employment Type: Temporary Part Time, 16 hours per week up until 30th June 2025 Location: Liverpool Drug Health Services Position Classification: Health Education Officer Remuneration Health Education Officer Grad: $36.04 - $57.58 per hour Health Education Officer Non Grad: $31.51 - $45.57 per hour Requisition ID: REQ557465 Application Close Date: 16/03/2025 Interview Date Range: 19/03/2025 - 26/03/2025 Contact Details: Andrew Miles | 0439 334 023 | About The Opportunity The Hepatitis C Testing Coordinator will work within Drug Health's Blood Borne Virus Program to coordinate hepatitis C testing services. The role suits someone looking to work in a team that engages with people with a history of injecting drug use who may be living with hepatitis C in Drug Health and community settings across SWSLHD. What You'll Be Doing The primary purpose of this position is to provide a range of harm reduction interventions for clients of the program, including the provision of new injecting equipment; health education; brief interventions and referral into treatment. The Harm Reduction Program protects the community from the spread of blood borne viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis C principally through the distribution of sterile injecting equipment to intravenous drug users and provision of information, advice referral services. Health promotion, overdose prevention and safe disposal programs are also provided through this program to service users and to health, welfare and community agencies. Primary needle and syringe program services are located at Liverpool Hospital and the Bankstown Community Health Centre. Secondary services are located in most Community Health Centres and needle dispensing machines are located in Bankstown, Bowral, Camden and Liverpool Hospitals. How To Apply To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. Relevant health qualifications deemed by the employer and/or demonstrated experience in working with injecting drug users within a range of harm reduction settings. Knowledge of the harm reduction approach to drug and alcohol issues and demonstrated experience in the provision of interventions with drug dependent clients. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated high level of communication including verbal, written and project management skills. Ability to plan and implement health promotional activities. Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to implement quality improvement processes. Demonstrated ability to provide brief interventions to clients with drug use issues.
