Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Electorate Officer to support Mr. John Barounis, Member for Maryborough, and engage with our vibrant community in the Maryborough Office. Your primary objective will be to: Provide direct administrative, executive, and media management support to Mr. Barounis MP; Support and engage with constituents and community groups; Manage the daily operations of the Electorate Office. Your duties and responsibilities as an Electorate Officer will include: Executive Support: Managing the Member's diary, appointments, and meetings. Coordinating with stakeholders for diary appointments. Preparing briefing notes, questions on notice, and conducting general research. Handling media requests and preparing responses. Establishing and maintaining information systems. Monitoring media and community issues. Coordinating official travel and managing travel claims. Maintaining accurate records and data entry of expenses. Community Engagement: Managing enquiries from constituents and community groups. Providing information on public services and policies. Maintaining the Member's social media presence and website. Developing and maintaining community networks. Conducting research on constituent issues. Arranging and coordinating community meetings and events. Attending community events on behalf of the Member. Assisting with community petitions and formal communications. Your key strengths will be: Previous experience in a parliamentary or local government office is advantageous. Strong organisational and time management skills. Advanced written and oral communication skills. Strong leadership and team motivation skills. Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse groups. Good knowledge of Queensland political and current affairs or willingness to learn.
