About the role The Operational Support Division provides technical advice, training, and systems to support the operation of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and the eastern Australian interconnection. This includes planning power system operations, forecasting demand, analysing network congestion, and improving central dispatch processes. In this role, you’ll contribute to the operation and development of systems and processes for the monitoring, investigation, and reporting of outcomes in the NEM. The position will be visible in the market, building relationships with stakeholders and improving the central dispatch process. Your work will directly contribute to a reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy system. Join AEMO and play a key role in shaping Australia’s energy future! What you will be doing Analyse and improve market dispatch processes and the NEM Dispatch Engine. Investigate market trends, system performance, and participant impacts. Develop analytics tools to enhance market insights and decision-making. Engage with stakeholders to strengthen industry collaboration. Prepare reports and present insights on market operations. Support ongoing improvements in Australia’s energy transition. What you will bring to the role A degree in engineering, mathematics, science, economics, or finance. 2+ years of experience in energy operations and market analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Power BI or R expertise. Knowledge of power systems and optimization techniques. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
