The Team: The State Communications Centre is where the delivery of Ambulance care begins for our patients and is based in Hobart. The Centre provides telephone triage, clinical advice, and dispatches ambulance resources in the most effective and efficient manner. The Role As a member of the Ambulance State Operations Centre (SOC), you will receive, record, and prioritise requests for ambulance services in a team environment. You will coordinate and dispatch ambulance vehicles and resources, and coordinate patient movements using telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch systems and other ancillary communications equipment. In the role of Emergency Medical Dispatcher, you will: Receive, record, and prioritise requests for ambulance services including the provision of pre-arrival instructions, following predetermined decision-making algorithms. Support the Emergency Medical Dispatch Support Officers (call taking) and provide advice as required. Dispatch ambulances in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures. Provide effective and efficient coordination of service resources including information relating to the location of all ambulance response units in the area of responsibility. Receive and make telephone calls concerning ambulance operations, public and administrative inquiries, and any other relevant calls including liaison with allied health care workers, other emergency service providers, and support agencies. Operate all technological systems within the State Operations Centre, including minor maintenance, fault finding, and rectification in accordance with standard operating procedures and fault reporting. Details of Appointment One fixed-term full-time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 28 June 2025. Salary: $99,761 - $107,896 per annum + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Multiple fixed-term, casual positions working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026. Salary: $78,036 to $84,399 per annum (Pro rata) + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022. Applicants should note that for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies. You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
