We're looking for two types of awesome people: Communications Specialist (12–18 month contract) Engagement Specialists (Full-time, ongoing – and we’re open to other options) You’ll work on incredible projects across renewable energy, infrastructure, water, resources, transport, education, aged care, and more! Think big, think exciting, and think about the difference you’ll make. These positions are based in our Newcastle, NSW office, but don’t worry—if part-time is your thing, we’re flexible! Plus, you'll get to mix it up with a combo of office days, client visits, and working from home. Travel will pop up occasionally, but you’ll never be bored. Why Mara? What you’ll be doing: Whether you're rocking the Communications Specialist role or the Engagement Specialist role, you'll be right at the heart of all things communication and engagement. Communications Specialist: You’ll be the go-to person for creating killer communication strategies and materials that speak to a variety of audiences for complex and technical projects. Across a range of channels, you’ll have the chance to write and produce content that makes an impact. Experience working with government is essential. Engagement Specialist: You’ll be our community ambassador, leading public consultations and shaping engagement strategies for massive projects. Your expertise in IAP2 engagement principles will shine as you help us consult with communities, stakeholders, and government agencies in a way that really counts. Experience in statutory consultation is a must. We’re looking for: We want to meet someone with 10+ years of experience (if you’ve got more, even better!). Bring your A-game in: Leadership – You’ll be leading project teams, managing workloads, and making sure things run smoothly. Business Development – Got a knack for spotting new opportunities? Bring them our way! Technical Skills – If you can communicate and engage effectively with all kinds of people, you’re a natural fit. Commercial Acumen – You’ll manage budgets and understand project scopes like a pro. What you’ll need: A tertiary qualification in communications, engagement, social sciences, or something similar (or equivalent experience). A passion for the sectors we work in (renewable energy, resources, infrastructure, construction, health, education). Certificate of Engagement (IAP2) (preferred). Experience with platforms like Consultation Manager and Social Pinpoint would be awesome. A can-do attitude and the ability to juggle multiple projects with ease.
