About The Role As the Engineering Pathways Lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing assessment pathways to support individuals seeking competency recognition. This includes holistic assessment framework, articulation advice for transitioning between membership categories (Engineering Associate, Engineering Technologist, and Professional Engineer), and evaluation of non-traditional qualifications, prior learning and experiential learning against competency elements for different occupational categories. Location Flexible In This Role You Will Lead the refinement and continual improvement of frameworks, policies and procedures related to supportive pathways to the profession. Work across EA teams to assess the combination of foundational qualifications, professional development and documented experiential learning to inform and guide your work. Collaborate with a number of stakeholders, internal and external, including applicants, assessors, regulators, industry and other professional bodies to exchange information, contribute to relevant work by others and raise the profile of Engineers Australia as the voice of the profession. Support, guide and assess candidates with diverse backgrounds and experience. Many of these individuals will have qualifications from one or more countries and experience from different sectors. Facilitate recognition of varied pathways as an alternative to “mainstream” routes to qualification, whilst maintaining standards and providing equitable treatment to all inquirers and candidates. Provide advice and assess applications for alternate pathways, taking into account the candidate’s existing qualifications, experience and circumstance. Review and further develop existing pathways and assessment practices against benchmarked international practice. Here’s What We’re Looking For Preferably you have an engineering qualification. You have an in-depth understanding of the engineering team from working in the engineering profession. You have knowledge of tertiary engineering education in either the VET or Higher Education sectors including authentic assessment design and/or recognition of prior learning practice and/or experiential learning. You have expertise in qualification, competency assessment or professional standards frameworks. You will do well in this role if you are comfortable with detailed information, including technical tasks and workstream and deliverables/action items. You will have outstanding verbal and written communication and liaison skills, including ability to develop guidance material, training resources, policies and procedures, board papers and reports. You have the ability to consult with a wide range of stakeholders with openness to new ideas and differing viewpoints, and capacity for advocacy and consensus-building. You think creatively and bring innovative solutions to assessment of alternative pathways challenges. You have very well-developed and reliable critical thinking skills to inform important judgements and you know when to seek further guidance or to test ideas with others. You have sophisticated interpersonal skills and have the ability to conduct difficult conversations as well as to retain a customer focus to identify pathways towards a desired outcome. You will do well in this role if you have strong organisational skills and excellent working knowledge of quality assurance and continual improvement practice. Why work for Engineers Australia?
