We have an exciting, fixed term temporary flexible full-time opportunity for you to join our System Policy Branch based in Brisbane CBD! The Epidemiologist – Health Technology Innovation will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative processes and frameworks to advance new and emerging health technologies within the Queensland Health system. Leveraging a strong epidemiological foundation, the role requires a deep understanding of the planning, evaluation, and delivery of innovative health technologies in a complex healthcare environment. This position works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary Research and Technology Assessment team to assess, analyse, and communicate health and clinical data, ensuring evidence-based decision-making aligns with both national and state priorities to advance health innovation across the state. Key responsibilities Analyse and interpret the clinical and medical scientific literature on emerging health technologies, working with a core Research and Technology Assessment Team with strengths in health economics, biostatistics and horizon scanning. Identify and embed best practice methodologies for health technology assessment activities, including systematic evidence evaluation, formulation of research questions, and assessment of clinical and health data. Apply traditional statistical and data science methods to design, collect, and analyse health data from clinical studies and real-world evidence projects. Synthesise and present insights through qualitative and quantitative data reports tailored to diverse stakeholders. The successful person You will have demonstrated: Experience and skills consistent with health technology assessment and horizon scanning methodologies, e.g., epidemiological studies, systematic reviews, and critical appraisal of evidence. High level computer literacy and advanced proficiency in statistical analysis, data modelling, and visualisation using tools like R, SPSS, or Python. Ability to understand data modelling and analytics concepts to burden of disease and patient demographics for health principles and research findings for policy design, health program implementation and evaluation. Strong communication skills to present complex findings, write reports, and engage effectively with internal and external health sector stakeholders. Excellent project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to plan and manage the delivery of numerous competing priorities.
