Job Description Responsibilities This casual role contributes to the successful execution of Surf Life Saving Australia's surf sports events, including the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, Coolangatta Gold, and Iron Series. The Event Day Officer plays a vital operational role, providing on-site support to ensure the seamless delivery of national SLSA sporting events. Assist with event setup, operation, and pack-down, ensuring all logistics run smoothly. Provide administrative support, including managing event entries and results. Coordinate volunteers, including scheduling and task allocation. Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support event delivery. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and risk management procedures. Support event operations by monitoring infrastructure, signage, and equipment. Foster positive relationships with event stakeholders, including volunteers, officials, and attendees. Contribute to post-event evaluations by providing feedback and recommendations. Desired Skills and Experience Who You Are Our ideal candidate will have: 1) Qualifications: Senior First Aid Certification (preferred). Relevant licenses (e.g., Forklift, Telehandler, Skid Steer) (preferred). Understanding of health and safety requirements in event operations. Ability to undertake on-the-job training for event support roles. 2) Knowledge and Experience: Experience assisting with event delivery, ideally in sports or not-for-profit sectors. Understanding of WHS practices, risk management, and compliance in event settings. Familiarity with Surf Life Saving events and regulations (preferred). Experience working with volunteers or in a community-driven environment. 3) Skills and Attributes: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with volunteers, officials, and stakeholders. Ability to troubleshoot and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Well-organized with good time management skills.
