Job Description
Our client, the Department for Correctional Services (DCS), is seeking a highly skilled Executive Director within the Offender Development Directorate. With approximately 2,000 staff, DCS manages nine prisons and 15 Community Corrections Centres across SA. DCS’s vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing reoffending. We are seeking a proven, highly experienced senior executive to take accountability for the strategic leadership, direction, and management of the Offender Development Directorate. This comprises DCS’s Offender Rehabilitation Services Unit, Sentence Management Unit, the development and delivery of Strategic Policy, Projects and Partnerships, and providing major input to Strategic and Business Plans in line with DCS and whole of Government requirements. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will enjoy enormous job satisfaction from making a huge difference to the safety of the community and outcomes of offenders through effective development and rehabilitation, with the support of highly committed staff. An appropriate tertiary or post-graduate qualification in Criminology, Public Administration/Policy, Business, Management, or related fields is essential. The Executive Director, Offender Development significantly contributes to the State Strategic Plan and DCS’s Strategic Plan, which includes but is not limited to the Strong Foundations and Clear Pathways – Women’s Action Plan 2019-24 and the National Agreement on Closing the Gap to reduce the rate of Aboriginal adults incarcerated, with a commitment to a new target of reducing reoffending by 20% by 2026 (20by26).
