Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and highly motivated individual to join the Victorian Environmental Water Holder (VEWH) as the Executive Manager, Planning and Delivery. The VEWH is an independent statutory body responsible for managing Victoria’s environmental water entitlements, in cooperation with program partners, to improve the environmental health of rivers and wetlands. The successful applicant will lead the Planning and Delivery Team, and be responsible for the oversight of planning, reporting and accounting the use of environmental water. The Executive Manager will drive innovative and effective processes to prioritise use, carryover and trade of environmental water and work with program partners to consider opportunities to provide for social, recreational and Aboriginal cultural values and uses of waterways. A key part of this role is to build and maintain strong relationships within the organisation, with the many partner organisations who contribute to the environmental watering program, and the key stakeholders who have an interest in the program’s environmental outcomes or associated community benefits. This includes participation and negotiations in state-wide and interjurisdictional forums. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and supporting the decision-making of the VEWH Commission, this role will suit someone with leadership experience, a collaborative mindset and knowledge of environmental water management in Victoria. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Understanding of water entitlements and environmental flows in Victoria. Knowledge of environmental water delivery, including multi-jurisdictional arrangements in the southern Murray-Darling Basin. This is an ongoing position.
