THE OPPORTUNITY A short 30-minute drive from Brisbane, the School’s heritage-listed campus is conveniently located in the middle of Ipswich. We offer the opportunities of a large city, with the more community feel of a smaller town. We are currently looking for an energetic and motivated Facilities & Maintenance Team Member (Grounds person) to join our close-knit Facilities Team. This is a full-time, permanent position, supporting our School through maintenance work, gardening and grounds work. In this varied role, you will focus on: General campus maintenance such as: Clearance of leaves from quads, gardens, main entry, thoroughfares, gutters. Moving of furniture and assistance with function set-up and pack up. Deliveries of packages to various departments and/or individuals. Litter management including collecting, removing, recycling of rubbish and the cleaning of rubbish bins. Water pressure cleaning. Mowing of lawns, whipper snipping, edging trimming, pruning of trees and shrubs, controlling of weeds and pests. Maintenance of facilities, equipment, and buildings. Working through the issued Request for Maintenance slips. Assist in locking up and unlocking campus. Set up and pack up School functions on campus and external to the School including sporting events. WHAT YOU WILL BRING To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated grounds person, with the ability to demonstrate: Demonstrated experience in providing efficient service delivery, with general commercial gardening and maintenance experience being highly regarded. Certificate or trade qualifications will be highly regarded but not a requirement. The ability to maintain schedules, work orders, activity logs, reports, equipment, and histories in support of cyclical and daily tasks. The ability to develop positive working relationships with team members while also having the capacity to work with limited supervision. The ability to apply Workplace Health and Safety standards especially on the use, application and storage of petrol, LP gas, insecticides, herbicides, fertilisers and chemicals. Flexibility, adaptability and openness to consultation and participation, along with being considerate of the needs of school students and fellow staff members. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, students and the broader School community. Eligibility to work in Australia and be a holder of, or can obtain, a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card).
