Job Overview: The Assistant Accountanting Manager will support the finance team in managing and maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is crucial in assisting with the day-to-day financial operations of a remittance service, ensuring transactions are processed smoothly and in line with regulations governing financial services. What you’ll be working on: Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for both the Country Manager and HQ. Provide insights into budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for better financial planning. Handle commission calculations and reconciliations , ensuring accurate payouts and reporting. Perform foreign exchange (FX) calculations , including revaluations and impact analysis on financial statements. Compliance and Standards : Ensure adherence to local accounting standards (AASB) and international standards (IFRS). Maintain compliance with statutory requirements, including GST, BAS, and tax filings. Documentation and Record Keeping : Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions and proper documentation to support the process. Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring timely responses to any queries. Internal Controls and Process Improvement : Monitor and implement internal controls to maintain financial integrity. Identify and implement process improvements for better efficiency and accuracy. Team Support and Compliance with HQ Policies : Provide guidance and training to finance team members. Ensure local team members comply with HQ policies and standards. Cross-functional Collaboration : Collaborate with different teams to streamline business processes and enhance financial workflows. Offer financial insights and recommendations to senior management. External Stakeholder Communication : Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, bankers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Strategic Support : Support strategic planning and decision-making by offering financial recommendations. Manage communication with Australian banks on banking-related matters. Business Understanding : Develop and maintain a strong understanding of all the businesses in Australia within the group to ensure effective financial management and reporting. What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA, CA, or equivalent qualifications are preferred. At least 3 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or similar roles, preferably in the insurance, payment, or exchange industries. Experience in preparing financial reports, budgeting, and variance analysis. Familiar with AASB, IFRS, and other statutory accounting requirements. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, data analysis). Knowledge of GST, BAS, and tax filing processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work with auditors, tax consultants, and external stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with cross-functional teams and provide guidance to team members. Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to promote continuous improvement within the team. High accuracy when preparing reports and maintaining documentation. Flexibility to handle evolving business needs and challenges. Strong strategic thinking to provide financial insights for decision-making. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
