Finance Officer - Star of the Sea School, MERRIMAC Estimated start date: 17 March 2025Position tenure: Full Time | PermanentWeeks worked: School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)Total Paid Hours (per week) & days required: 38 hours per week, Monday - FridaySalary level, range or hourly rate: School Officer Level 5 - Fulltime hourly rate - $38.29 per hour (School Salary Scale) /(Services Salary Scale) Employment conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement Star of the Sea School, Merrimac is a Brisbane Catholic Education master planned three stream primary school which opened in 2022. The school has a close relationship with the Surfers Paradise Catholic Parish and is located in the heart of the Gold Coast, close to the beach and surrounded by the beautiful Gold Coast hinterland. In 2025, we welcomed our first Year 6 cohort, and currently have around 230 enrolments. We provide contemporary learning environments which have high expectations for each student to maximise learning, progress and achievement. It is anticipated the school will grow to 338 enrolments in the fifth year, with Prep to Year 6, and eventually reach approximately 580 students. Explore our school website to learn more about us. Purpose and Scope The Finance Officer assists the School Leadership Team with a wide variety of financial and administrative functions to support the financial operations of the school. Under the direction of the Principal, you will coordinate financial administration activities and provide support to ensure the school delivers on key reporting deadlines. This is a fast paced and diverse role where you will have the platform to showcase your financial knowledge and organisational skills. You will work closely with Support Accountants, School Leadership, Administration team, staff, parents and suppliers. Accountabilities End to end maintenance of all school financials, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation of bank accounts, end of month and end of year Strategic management of the school financial budgets and resources- including operating and staffing budgets Reconciliation of accounts Manage the billing and collection of school fees Work closely with our families to ensure the collection of school fees in a timely manner Data entry Report preparation Liaise and issue contracts to various providers Assist front office- phones, first aid, uniforms Prepare staff contracts Oversee the development and maintenance operations of the school facilities, grounds and resources General administrative tasks as designated by the Principal or Leadership Team Knowledge of Brisbane Catholic Education financial packages and processes is not essential however, it would be an advantage To be eligible to be considered for this role you will: Please note applications for this role may be considered as they are received, and an appointment made prior to the advertised close date.
