Make your mark in Finance Our Finance team plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy balance sheet at AIG. It delivers significant finance support for the overall enterprise, optimising operations, controllership, funding, and capital structure to honor our stakeholder commitments. The team’s work is invaluable to informing leadership decision making, complying with regulatory requirements, and maintaining financial discipline, transparency and controls, while providing timely and meaningful information. How you will create an impact As a senior member of the Pacific Finance team, the Controller plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial information in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS) and local statutory requirements while also assisting with quarterly analytics. This position is responsible for ensuring integrity of data and maintenance of a robust control environment, having a command of the general ledger structures and driving process improvements. Key accountabilities will include but are not limited to: Oversight and accountability for timely and accurate delivery of the entity financial statements for local regulatory and group reporting purposes. Oversight and adherence to the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close processes and ensuring that all transactions are booked in a timely manner and in accordance with US GAAP for group reporting purposes and local statutory and IFRS requirements. Working with wider finance teams, the Finance Center, and other key functions as required to enable the execution of recurring close processes. Provide financial statement analytics and insight into balance sheet movements, developments, and areas of concern as part of the quarterly reporting processes. Oversight and accountability for accounting policy interpretation (including liaising with the Office of Accounting Policy - OAP). Providing finance-related reports and inputs for Board of Directors and Audit Committee meetings. Manage and lead efforts to strengthen the control environment and implement process improvements, ensuring a robust internal control framework including SOX is maintained to deliver accurate and error-free reporting. Manage the audit process with external and internal auditors. Act as the primary point of contact for various global initiatives related to Finance Transformation. Support, contribute and/or lead projects and workstreams associated with significant transactions and ad hoc activities, such as acquisitions, spin-offs, de-consolidations, re-segmentations, capital transactions, etc. What you’ll need to succeed Qualified CA, CPA, extensive Finance experience with strong operational and technical accounting experience with U.S GAAP and statutory reporting, preferably in the insurance industry or financial services sector. IFRS 17, SAP and audit experience a plus. Experience leading teams in a dynamic, transformational environment, where change is embraced and viewed as an opportunity to drive process improvement. Demonstrated strong business and financial acumen, local Australian/New Zealand regulatory and tax knowledge as well as advanced change management and project management skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Highly influential and able to flex leadership style according to the situation. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery, with an ability to effectively navigate a complex, global organization.
