Ignite Your Career as a Functions & Events Manager in Mount Gambier! Are you a master of event planning with a flair for creating unforgettable experiences? As the Functions & Events Manager at the Mount Gambier Hotel, you will drive and coordinate the seamless execution of events, from intimate birthday parties to corporate meetings and community fundraisers. Your mission: to exceed client expectations at every turn and ensure every event is a resounding success. ABOUT THE JOB This full-time salaried role working 38+ hours per week over a 7-day roster as per the needs of the business. The salary package starts at $90,000 per year, inclusive of base salary and benefits; packages are dependent on skills and experience. Customer Service and Communication Build instant rapport with clients, understand their needs, and turn their visions into reality. Develop and maintain strong relationships locally, representing our venues with pride. Be present working the floor at all functions and events to ensure guest needs are accommodated, communicated with staff, and execution is flawless. Deliver exceptional customer service, using feedback to enhance our offerings continually. Resolve issues promptly and escalate to the VM where necessary, ensuring client satisfaction. Administration & Financial Meet with clients to discuss event needs, showcasing our spaces and packages. Coordinate all required services, from audiovisual equipment to catering. Maintain the Now Book It System, keeping all client information current. Maintain the functions website highlighting the unique offerings of our venues. Collaborate with the Head Chef to keep function packs current and aligned with our menus. Ensure all costs are invoiced and collected promptly. Manage the budget for the Events Department, optimising staff rosters and controlling expenses. Provide financial reporting and make recommendations for improving profitability. Marketing and Event Promotion Work with the Visual and Social Marketing team to promote events via email and social media. Create engaging marketing materials and cross-promote events to maximize exposure. Stay ahead of competitors by continually adding value and maintaining a competitive edge. Seek out new customers creatively, taking initiative and building rapport locally. Training and Compliance Attend training sessions and keep up-to-date with industry trends and regulations. Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and venue policies. ABOUT YOU Personal Attributes Exceptional multitasking and prioritisation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills. Creative problem-solving and sound judgment. Effective leadership and consultation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software. Qualifications and Experience Essential Responsible Service of Alcohol, ability to work in and with food and beverage teams. Proven experience in a similar role Valid driver's license and reliable transport Experience in the hospitality industry Desirable Qualifications in Leadership, Marketing, Events Management, or Business. Provide First Aid Certificate. Mental Health First Aid Accreditation.
