Job Description About the Opportunity Brisbane North PHN, in partnership with Metro North Health, currently has a pivotal opportunity for a General Manager - Health Alliance to join the team working across the North Brisbane region. Employed by Brisbane North PHN, with equal reporting relationships to both agency CEOs and receiving guidance from a Joint Board Committee, your primary responsibilities will be to provide strategic leadership for the innovative Health Alliance between the two agencies, secure funding opportunities, leverage current and future health reforms, and engage relevant stakeholders to achieve the strategic goals of the Health Alliance. This role is based in the PHN’s Lutwyche office but will be required to work across the two organisations. The role is being offered on a full-time basis. About the Health Alliance The Health Alliance was established in 2017 by Brisbane North PHN and Metro North Health to identify health system reform opportunities to jointly address complex challenges facing the North Brisbane health system. The Alliance facilitates different health sectors, health care providers, and the North Brisbane community to work together to address complex health care delivery challenges that transcend the mandate of any one organisation or part of the health sector. The General Manager – Health Alliance plays a critical role, reporting to the Chief Executive Officers of Brisbane North PHN and Metro North Health. Duties and Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration. Monitor the external health environment to identify opportunities of strategic importance that require collaborative action. Analyse health needs and service provision data to determine health system reform opportunities of greatest impact to the community in the North Brisbane catchment. Provide expert advice to the Joint Board Committee to support strategic decision-making. Secure and manage funding to progress shared priorities. Lead a dedicated Health Alliance team, driving performance and outcomes. Desired Skills and Experience About You The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications and/or professional experience in a field of direct relevance to the position. Proven experience in the analysis, development, implementation, and evaluation of health systems and programs. Skills and Attributes Strategic and systems-thinking approach to complex health sector challenges. Knowledge and/or experiences across key public health business domains – funding, clinical models of care, policy and planning, hospital and primary/community interfaces, workforce development, reporting to government, operational/project oversight. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across multiple agencies. An understanding of the current health reform environment and its impact on service delivery. An “implementation science” view of bringing about health service and system improvements. Other Requirements A current driver’s licence is desirable; use of a personal vehicle may be required, including travel between PHN offices. Work-related mileage will be reimbursed at relevant rates. Flexible work hours may be required, including evening/weekend commitments. Great workplace culture with exposure to national programs.
