The Genomics Node Manager is a senior leadership role at the Monash Genomics and Bioinformatics Platform (MGBP) , responsible for overseeing the operations, strategic direction, and business development of the Genomics Node. Reporting to the Scientific Director, you will lead a team of approximately six staff, manage a $2.54M budget, and ensure the delivery of high-quality research services, training, and education. This full-time, onsite position requires a strong leader with technical expertise in genomics, particularly spatial and single-cell technologies, and a proven ability to develop and implement business models for sustainable research infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership – Develop and implement the Genomics Node’s operational and business strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability and cutting-edge service offerings. Research & Technology – Collaborate with researchers to provide expert genomics support, guiding experimental design and technology selection. Stakeholder Engagement – Establish and maintain high-level relationships with national and international research networks, funding bodies, and industry partners. Business Development – Drive service expansion, introduce new genomics technologies, and secure funding from government and external sources. Team Leadership – Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and service. Financial & Risk Management – Oversee budget allocation, compliance, quality assurance, and operational efficiency. About You: Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in genomics or a related field. Extensive technical expertise in genomics technologies, including spatial and single-cell genomics. Strong management experience, with the ability to develop and lead a high-performing team. Highly desirable ability to build partnerships, influence stakeholders, and secure funding.
