About the Role Join Virgin Australia’s Group Strategy team and play a key role in shaping the future of Australia’s most loved airline. Reporting directly to the Head of Group Strategy, this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to develop their consulting and/or strategy skillset by contributing to strategic initiatives, supporting senior executives, and helping rebuild a highly successful airline. As an Associate, you’ll work closely with the team to support Virgin Australia’s strategic objectives, gaining exposure to a wide variety of business challenges and opportunities. This role is ideal for someone with 2-5 years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or a related field, who thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments. What you’ll be doing Supporting Strategy Development: Help shape Virgin Australia’s strategic direction and positioning to maintain a competitive edge. Driving Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses, synthesize large data sets, and develop insights to inform decision-making. Collaborating on Projects: Assist with small-to-medium-sized cross-functional projects, working closely with general managers and key stakeholders. Providing Decision Support: Deliver critical analysis for business decisions, applying financial and strategic frameworks. Crafting Deliverables: Prepare executive-level presentations and clear, compelling recommendations for senior stakeholders. Contributing to Execution: Support the implementation and continuous development of Virgin Australia’s strategic initiatives. Learning and Growing: Gain valuable experience working on high-impact projects while developing your skills in strategy, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll be great in this role if you have… 2-5 years in management consulting or professional services strategy consulting at a major consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Oliver Wyman, Deloitte), preferably with experience in transportation or airline projects; or 2-5 years in corporate strategy within aviation, transportation, or similar sectors. Proficient in financial modelling, data analysis and problem-solving. Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly. Strong analytical capabilities and a natural aptitude for working with numbers. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. An advanced tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Commerce, Mathematics / Statistics, Engineering etc.) An interest in aviation is advantageous.
