Job Description

This organisation is a market leader in the renewables sector. They run multi-billion-dollar projects across Australia and have a healthy pipeline of future projects under tender. THE ROLE They are looking for a Head of HR (Manager title) to lead the people function for this high-profile project from design through to completion. An all-encompassing Head of HR role (content indicative of HRD responsibilities without the title). This is a scale-up environment, and you will be joining the organisation (JV structure) at an early stage of its development (albeit within an existing corporate framework). Your HR experience and leadership will see you draw upon the following generalist and centres of excellence expertise including: Culture creation: Note this is a JV between two well-established and successful organisations. People leadership: Managing a small team (graduate HRBP / generalists, TA). OD: Design & development (for both the project & Op Co). Talent Acquisition & high volume hiring: White collar HC (currently 250, growing to x400). Hiring of up to 2000 blue collar staff. Talent Management: Importing overseas talent from within the group, or other sources of talent. IR (Industrial Relations): Maintaining relationships and future negotiations with the unions regarding EBA renewals. ER (Employee Relations): As per standard in such roles, workforce types and organisations. The role reports to the Regional GM & HR Project Director. THE CRITERIA Core HR skills and competencies required as outlined above. You operate professionally with an “Enabler” attitude & approach of “we can get this done”. Your high EQ, ability to manage senior stakeholders across a JV environment and create a successful working partnership are paramount. You must be willing to be hands-on (it’s a scale-up environment) and comfortable working within a blue- and white-collar workforce. Your Industry experience: Recent construction industry is very strongly preferred. We can consider closely related industries that are heavily unionised / blue collar / project related / high capex / opex environments etc. More specifically, applications are welcome from candidates with demonstrable experience within one of the following: Construction: Energy & power projects / Infrastructure (tunnels, highways etc) / Commercial & Residential Property. Energy: Renewables, Fossil, Nuclear, Electrical. Either companies who lead construction projects in this space, or divisions of the major energy suppliers who build, own and run the assets. To Note The role is hands-on and one level below the HR Director effectively. If you are job title precious this is not the role for you (Head of HR / Manager will be signed off). The role is based in the Sydney CBD (in the office most days (with some flexibility) and some travel to site (as required). Compensation offered is competitive and in line with the level of role and competencies required to successfully deliver.
