About The Role TasNetworks is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our Governance team as the Head of Business Governance. This pivotal role, based in Lenah Valley, Hobart, offers an exciting opportunity to shape the governance landscape of a key player in the Tasmanian economy. Reporting directly to the Executive Governance, you will lead a team responsible for Risk & Compliance, Internal Audit, and Knowledge Governance, ensuring that TasNetworks maintains its reputation for integrity and excellence. As Head of Business Governance, you will partner with other enterprise leaders to drive the day-to-day operations of TasNetworks, a State-Owned Company. Your leadership will be instrumental in supporting the Executive Team and the TasNetworks Board by fostering a culture of accountability and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) awareness. You will leverage best-practice systems and processes to provide education, advice, and reporting that align with our strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities Embed risk awareness throughout TasNetworks to ensure decisions are made with a risk-attuned approach, maintaining the integrity of TasNetworks and its representation of the Government. Develop and implement a GRC strategy that aligns with TasNetworks' overall strategy and risk profile and empower and promote the importance of this. Lead the development of robust information management systems that support effective knowledge governance and provide timely insights to the Board, Executive, and Leaders. Use adaptive leadership to balance stakeholder needs, maintain independence and integrity, and effectively support Executive Governance, the Company Secretary, the ARCC, and the TasNetworks Board. Attract and nurture top talent, enhance GRC literacy, and empower employees to engage in risk-aligned decision-making. About You We are looking for a candidate who embodies the following qualities: A deep understanding of the value of a strong risk and compliance culture, supported by effective programs, processes, and systems. The ability to maintain perspective and apply an enterprise-wide approach in all work. Skills in anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders using adaptive leadership principles. A commitment to maintaining independence and integrity, ensuring effective support to Executive Governance, the Company Secretary, and the TasNetworks Board. A talent for attracting and nurturing the best talent to meet current and future business needs, while harnessing networks and promoting the TasNetworks brand. Desirable Qualifications And Experience Significant experience in a senior leadership role within commerce, industry, or the public sector. Relevant professional qualifications aligned with the role's accountabilities. Significant experience in corporate governance and strategic risk management in a commercial environment.
