Centenary Heights State High School is a large High School in Toowoomba that fosters the importance of learning while being an active member of the wider community. About The School Centenary Heights State High School is located in the Toowoomba District and serves principally the urban community of South-East Toowoomba. The school was opened in 1968 and is one of several state and private high schools which service Toowoomba and the surrounding districts. The school occupies a site of approximately 10 hectares in a residential area adjacent to the Southtown Shopping Centre. Around 1800 students across Years 7 to 12 are enrolled at Centenary Heights State High School. Approximately 55% of students come from our traditional state primary partner schools, while 30% come from other schools in and near Toowoomba and 15% from overseas, interstate or intrastate. About The Role Lead the Junior Secondary (Year 7-9) Department through: High School transition programs including parent information evenings, Year 7 Transition Day, Year 7 Interface, school tours, Year 6 classroom visits Liaising with feeder Primary Schools to understand individual student and cohort needs Support the Year 7 Camp team to coordinate and run the annual Year 7 Camp Work with the Timetabling DP and other Heads of Department to design appropriate Teaching Transition Teams to support the needs of Year 7 students and Faculty specific staffing needs Leading Year 7 Teaching Transition Teams to support student engagement, learning needs and social emotional support Collaboratively lead along with the Diverse Learning DP to assign future Year 7 students into appropriate class grouping Support the Year 7, 8 and 9 Heads of Year teams to guide the social emotional and learning needs of all students through the early years of High School Lead the coordination of the Junior School Leaders program including selection processes, attendance at school and community events, support Student Leaders meetings Support the Deputy Principal to facilitate NAPLAN ensuring QCAA processes and timelines are met Lead The Languages Department Through Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the Languages Department to meet goals as outlined within the School's AIP Support faculty staff to maintain high expectations of quality teaching and learning for Languages focusing on whole school pedagogy practices Lead curriculum and assessment alignment to support the school's and department's initiatives Coordinate School of Distance Ed student enrolments with relevant Guidance Officers and be the school's point of contact, facilitate exams and support student engagement Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
