About the Role We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about pedagogy and has a strong knowledge of instructional coaching approaches. The Head of Department - Teaching & Learning will be responsible for providing teaching and learning support for staff, directly through targeted instructional coaching. They will also be leading the consistent implementation of our Whole School Approach to Pedagogy, grounded in the Gradual Release of Responsibility. The Head of Department - Teaching & Learning will lead and support opportunities for collegial engagement and observations, as well as supporting the professional growth of staff across all career stages, including preservice and early career teachers. Responsibilities include: Coach various teaching staff across faculties to develop expert staff, systematic curriculum and effective pedagogies aligned to the Whole School's Approach to Pedagogy and Instructional Model (the Gradual Release of Responsibility); Lead the strategic implementation of the school's Instructional Coaching strategy, leveraging teacher expertise as a resource for building collective efficacy; Work in consultation with Heads of Department across all curriculum areas to drive improvement classroom pedagogical practices, with a focus on improving student outcomes; Lead the development of early career staff as the preservice teacher coordinator, leader of the early career teacher program, and the coach for supervisors and mentors; Support the coordination of the professional learning program of the school, and model continual professional growth by delivering internal professional learning opportunities.
