About The Role The Head of Enterprise Project Management is an exciting and newly established role that takes on the responsibility of leading critical programs within the City of Melbourne, ensuring they are aligned with the city’s strategic priorities and deliver impactful outcomes. In this influential role, you will manage a diverse and complex portfolio of projects, driving them to completion on time, within budget, and in line with organisational objectives. Your responsibilities will include: Overseeing the selection, prioritisation, and execution of projects to ensure they deliver value and meet timelines, budgets, and scope. Developing and facilitating project management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices across the organisation. Assuring that projects align with the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives. Providing a strong understanding of project management, governance, compliance standards, and facilitating effective policies and procedures across multiple teams and departments. Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks across the portfolio. Providing executive leadership with transparent, actionable insights through consistent reporting and performance metrics. Monitoring project budgets and expenditures, ensuring financial control and cost-effectiveness across the project portfolio. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, challenges, and trends to ensure project execution aligns with the business environment. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by regularly evaluating project processes and outcomes, implementing lessons learned. What You Will Bring To The Role A relevant tertiary qualification in Program Management or related discipline or comparable level of professional experience. Several years’ experience in a consulting or government environment with a primary focus on program management. High level of demonstrated experience in development of reports and dashboards for Executives and Project Managers. Previous business transformational program or project leadership experience that demonstrates the ability to deliver strategic outcomes on time and on budget in complex environments. Ability to create relationships to manage difficult conversations. Passion for continuously improving project management processes, staying updated with the latest industry trends. Proficiency in navigating and influencing across departments, fostering collaboration between business units. Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of independent governance frameworks and methodologies. Experience in setting up and monitoring benefit, risk issue, and change-control processes. Ability to set a high ethical standard for the organisation’s project management practices.
