About the Opportunity Exciting new opportunity to be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of the property legal function in Metcash. In this role you will be a trusted advisor and primary contact for the corporate Property team on property management, development and related matters. This role can be considered full time or permanent part time (4 days per week) In this Role Provide legal advice and support on all property-related matters across Metcash's Corporate Property Team and business units, engaging external legal services as needed. Oversee all legal matters handled by the Property Legal Team and ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality performance of tasks. Serve as the primary point of contact for all property-related legal service requests and manage them through the Group Legal Team’s platform. Stay updated on legal developments in property law, issuing alerts and providing training for the Metcash group. Develop and improve precedent documents, internal policies, and governance standards related to property matters. Participate in meetings of the Corporate Group Property Team and contribute to its discussions. Recruit and manage future direct reports, as needed. Support a positive culture within the Property Legal Team, conducting regular meetings, coaching, and mentoring team members. Oversee the provision of external legal services, manage external legal spend, and ensure compliance with the Group Legal Team's protocols. Administer legal registers, respond to insurance queries, manage cost centers, and report financial matters, including external legal fees, while supporting the broader Group Legal Team on legal issues and process improvements.
