Job Description
Our client is a privately held, global childcare business with the financial backing of both a large foreign pension fund as well as a sovereign wealth fund. With around 1,000 childcare centres worldwide, our client operates over 200 of those in Australia and New Zealand. About the role: Reporting directly to the Australian CEO and with a dotted reporting line to the global General Counsel, this role sits on the senior management team and will support the Australian and New Zealand businesses. The role will see you advising and supporting all aspects of the business on legal, compliance, governance and risk related matters including: BAU legal matters such as procurement, corporate, finance, insurance, property etc. supporting the business in serious incident external response, acting as the primary contact for State and Federal regulatory bodies and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements; guiding and overseeing enterprise risk management for Australian operations; advising on acquisition and divestment of new centres; and acting as Company Secretary for the Australian operation. About you: To be considered for this role you will be an experienced lawyer: with at least 6 years’ post admission experience gained from a well-regarded firm or in-house environment; ideally you will have had exposure to a broad range of commercial matters, whether it be corporate, commercial, property, employment or other relevant experience; candidates with a background in childcare and/or a highly regulated environment will be highly regarded; a commercial, pragmatic and can-do approach will be critical for your success in this role.
