TEG Life Like Touring is looking for a Head of Lighting to be responsible for the installation, implementation, and operation of all lighting systems for the upcoming Australian tour of Gabby's Dollhouse Live!Contract Position : Weekly Fee + Per Diems (when applicable), all accommodation and travel provided (when away from home base).All candidates must be Melbourne-based and available for all rehearsal and national tour dates from 17th February 2025 up to/around 29th April 2025.The Role The Employee shall perform all services customarily rendered by the Head of Lighting of a first-class musical stage play (of the same quality and calibre as a Broadway/West End musical). Without limitation, the following employee duties shall include: Advance of the tour, pre-production, and planning, adapting existing touring documentation for distribution to venues Represent the Lighting Designer's interests and intentions in executing the touring version of the Production Attend rehearsals and production meetings ahead of the tour, familiarising yourself with the production and the touring staff Work alongside the Touring Systems Technicians to ensure pristine lighting coverage throughout every touring venue Consult with the Production on the touring equipment rider and suppliers Prepare, test, and pack the touring equipment Ensure the safe transport of all touring lighting equipment and systems Loading/Unloading touring equipment at each venue, including assisting heads of other departments unloading their equipment Oversee the install of production and stage lighting elements, involving manual handling and working at heights Supervise a crew of local technicians to implement the lighting design, interfacing with venue lighting systems and integrating touring equipment into the rig Manage local floor lighting crew and direct them in their duties Oversee system checks, focus, and alignment Test all lighting cues, replotting where necessary to honour the execution of original lighting content design Establish an operating position in each venue & operate the lighting systems during the tour Troubleshoot and perform repairs on touring lighting equipment as required Contribute to regular reports regarding the status of the tour, issues, or looming equipment requirements or changes Note: Statements included in this job description are intended to reflect in general the duties and responsibilities of this position and are not to be interpreted as exclusive. Requirements Required Skills:Excellent knowledge of lighting system protocols and procedures, data signal flow, power distribution, and equipment configuration Extensive experience operating a variety of lighting consoles A comprehensive background programming and operating lighting systems for theatrical performance, as well as managing and maintaining Show Quality of lighting fixtures, data networking, and power distribution systems A thorough knowledge of moving light protocols, R&M, troubleshooting, and solution-based approaches A thorough knowledge of programming and operation of a variety of lighting consoles and supporting equipment Capable of carrying out manual handling tasks, comfortable working at heights, and able to lift 25kg loads unencumbered Demonstrate a clear understanding of "performance" etiquette, including a comprehensive knowledge of theatre traditions, protocol, and terminology Demonstrate an understanding of lighting plans and documentation Possess a comprehensive general knowledge of electricity and safety procedures, testing and tagging, and workplace safety protocols Exhibit excellent organisation and communication skills, written and verbal Demonstrated ability to work with creative and technical personnel and performers Ability to work under pressure, using tact, diplomacy, and flexibility Preference will be given to candidates who hold a license to operate a motor vehicle and/or an Elevated Work Platform ticket. Candidates for this role must ensure that they are entitled to legally work in Australia, and proof of citizenship or eligibility may be requested. Candidates must currently hold, or successfully submit to, a Working With Children check.
