Job Description

The College is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced and qualified Workplace Health & Safety Officers. Open to individuals seeking between 0.4 FTE (Days/hours are flexible). Health & Safety Culture Officer St Brendan-Shaw College is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school located in Devonport catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The College is committed to creating a learning environment that fosters excellence, compassion, and service in our students. Reporting to the Principal through the Business & Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the WHS requirements across the College including implementation of WHS and compliance processes and reporting structures to ensure that the College meets required compliance obligations, promoting a safety management and risk awareness culture, and building a durable systemic safety management system. As a Health & Safety Culture Officer, you will: Support the Principal by leading a strong safety culture in the school. Review and monitor high-risk activities such as school camps and excursions as well as on-campus carnivals to ensure appropriate risk assessment and management is undertaken. Work collaboratively with other members of the school community, including parents/guardians, caregivers, and volunteers, to achieve effective outcomes. Investigate accidents and incidents ensuring appropriate action is determined and implemented. Some of the skills and experiences we are looking for are: Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety. Experience and demonstrated proficiency in Workplace Health & Safety management. Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration. Understanding and experience in corporate governance, risk management, and compliance. Salary will be in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2018.
