Job Description

The Senior Human Resources (HR) Consultant is responsible for the provision of advice and support to the QAS region in relation to a broad range of contemporary HR management issues, activities and processes; contributing to the effective management and development of the regional workforce.The role provides a high level of support to the Manager, Workforce and regional leadership team in delivering organisational reform outcomes and ensuring that local regional HR practices are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation and QAS policy.The Senior HR Consultant contributes to the overall future direction of the QAS and supports the provision of quality, timely and appropriate pre-hospital care and transport services to the Queensland community within the region. We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework governing workplace health and safety and workers' compensation in Queensland and the proven ability to apply that knowledge to implement effective WHS systems, risk management approaches and other initiatives in the workplace. Proven success in the implementation of WHS management systems through working with managers and supervisors to facilitate practical, efficient and effective outcomes, across a range of workplace health and safety functions and risks. Demonstrated capability and experience in the provision of workplace rehabilitation services to support employee health and the ability to function as a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator, including an excellent understanding of information privacy and managing confidentiality. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to effectively engage, collaborate, and be a trusted advisor to a broad range of stakeholders, in the context of a statewide ambulance service in a 24/7 operating environment. Proven success in delivering coaching, training and/or informative presentations to managers, supervisors and/or staff regarding health, safety and wellbeing. Well-developed organisational and analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to manage, interpret and monitor performance data and reporting mechanisms to identify trends and issues and drive performance improvement. The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role: Whilst not mandatory, possession of or working toward vocational, tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety and/or Rehabilitation and Return to Work will be highly regarded. The successful applicant should be willing to perform the function of the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator, including obtaining the applicable qualification once appointed, if required. The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required. Applications to remain current for 12 months.
