ICU REGISTRAR WITH ANAESTHETIC EXPOSURE | SYDNEY | 12+ MONTH CONTRACT Our client based in Sydney is currently seeking an Intensive Care Registrar to join their team.FAST FACTS: Anaesthetic rotation available 10 minutes from Sydney CBD CICM accredited site For overseas trained doctors, Challis Recruitment has an in-house migration lawyer and medical registration team to assist with any Visa or medical registration requirements. THE POSITION: Our Sydney-based client is seeking an experienced ICU Registrar to manage patients who are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and the High Dependency Unit.Included in this position will be a 3-month rotation in anaesthetics, supervising and teaching medical and nursing staff that rotate through both units will also be required.This position will consist of a rotating roster of 7 days on, 7 days off which includes both day and night shifts.THE DEPARTMENT: Our client’s 12-bed intensive care promotes a supportive, flexible, and multidisciplinary approach. Care is delivered with dignity, compassion, integrity, and respect, achieving optimal healthcare results through holistic and evidence-based practice.The unit's team consists of intensive care specialists, medical officers, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, pharmacists, speech pathologists, and social workers.The ICU department is supported by a 21-bed unit that offers 10 monitored beds for those who require an ongoing higher level of care following discharge from intensive care.THE HOSPITAL: This exciting opportunity is based in a 233-bed premier private hospital in the heart of Sydney. Recognised for having skilled and world-renowned specialists consulting and performing procedures. Many are at the forefront of research in their disciplines, pioneering new technologies and advancing their surgical and medical skills.Specialist services include rehabilitation, maternity, cancer care, orthopaedics, bone and sports injuries, cardiology, surgery, ENT surgery, urology, endocrine surgery, and neurosurgery.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES: Be responsible and competent in the initial assessment and management of patients in critical/emergency positions. Responsible for the care of patients in ICU and the HDU as required, requested referrals by the Director/VMO of ICU to review ward patients and attending a medical emergency within the hospital. Accurately record relevant history and examination, management plan, investigations ordered, and actions taken in the patients’ medical record. Communicate and coordinate effectively with all allied health staff, including significant changes in a patient’s condition. Review results in a timely manner, advising consultants of relevant results. Manage code blue and the rapid response team. Attend specific training programs and up-skill. Prepare material for the hospital’s clinical presentations and teaching sessions as directed. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Hold registration or be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA. Experience as an Intensive Care Registrar. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays. Evidence of involvement in continuing medical education. Proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge and experience in determining the appropriate clinical diagnosis, investigations, and treatment of patients. Competence in the management of cardiac emergencies, severe infections, and their complications, as well as neurological emergencies and high-risk postoperative surgical patients. Leadership and team management skills as an effective team leader/member of the Code Blue and Rapid Response Team. Excellent communication skills not only with patients but families and clinical staff. Proven reliability to work within personal level of expertise and seek assistance as needed from senior staff.
