Play a critical role in leading asset and network related incident investigations, guiding the identification of root causes and recommending preventative actions for improvements across the AusNet network. You will be the enterprise point of escalation relating to incident investigations and this role will implement improvement initiatives across the AusNet network. In this role as an Incident Investigation & Reliability Lead, you will engage with multiple business units, dealing with technical issues with broad implications and driving process improvement initiatives across the enterprise. This role will conduct reliability modelling, root cause analysis and translate complex business requirements into comprehensive solutions. This role will primarily be based in Southbank and is part of the Asset Management, Group Operations Team. This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Undertake complex work activities, leading asset and network related incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventative actions. Engage with relevant business units to gather information from multiple stakeholders and apply knowledge and theory to lead the development of solutions to applied problems. Leverage subject matter expertise in Electrical Engineering to deal with technical issues which have broad implications for the business. Take ownership of process improvements initiatives, specification and standard improvements and develop new methods of practice. Facilitate Reliability Modelling and Root Cause Analysis activities with subject matter experts. Translate complex business requirements, evaluating options with recommendations that offer comprehensive solutions to achieve strategic business plans/options. Act as point of contact and escalation for technical questions; performing the role of Lead Engineer as required to advise on issues and implications. Supervise investigation process with Lines of Business and monitor against expectations. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and clear modes of communication with relevant stakeholders and business clients (internal), acting as trusted and commercially savvy technical advisor. Report internally on investigation outcomes and performance leveraging communication skills to deliver reporting in clear and easily understandable ways varied according to audiences’ technical understanding. Perform data and system analysis to identify repeat trends and share insights and learnings with Network teams and Strategic Asset Management Committee. You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years of electrical engineering (failure investigation experience highly regarded) experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in relation to general network/electrical engineering principles and theories and significant applied experience in problem solving within this domain. Strong understanding of root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., FMECA) and demonstrated expertise in incident investigations. Ability to manage project teams and/or coordinate investigations and reporting that requires multiple stakeholder engagements and inputs. Business writing acumen and commercial awareness; ability to draft clear and concise reports for both internal and external stakeholders based on level of business and technical understanding. Proven ability to effectively navigate emergency and catastrophic situations, providing sound and timely advice for appropriate courses of corrective action. Capability to make recommendations to Lines of Business for continuous improvement based on investigations outcomes. Delivery of business outcomes through stakeholder engagement. Leadership experience preferred; ability to influence and manage other people to contribute or deliver outcomes.
