About The Role The Indigo Shire Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) is seeking expressions of interest for two (2) community members to become part of the committee. The main role of the MEMPC is to prepare the Municipal Emergency Management Plan, encompassing arrangements for mitigation, response, recovery and relief within the Indigo Shire. The MEMPC is seeking committed individuals and community leaders to be an active member of this committee. These are voluntary roles. The community representatives will have a term of two (2) years. Meetings are quarterly, generally held at Beechworth or Yackandandah, Victoria or via Teams. In-person attendance is generally expected once per year. As part of the MEMPC you will help your community to mitigate, plan for and respond to any emergency that may take place and become integral to the preparation of the Municipal Emergency Management Plan. The MEMPC is made up of representatives from the emergency services such as the Police, CFA, SES and Ambulance Victoria, Council, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and Australian Red Cross, DEECA (Forest Fire Management). About You Do you want to be involved locally in planning and preparing for emergencies? Do you have a passion for planning for and protecting your community? Are you prepared to commit to attending four meetings a year with the potential for sub-committee meetings in addition to the four? Ideally, successful applicants will have relevant experience or knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Experience in community engagement/involvement and experience in community-based committees. Experience in emergency management, such as a CFA/SES volunteer. An understanding of Local Government or Public Sector experience including government operations and stakeholder management.
