About the Inspections Department Our professional inspection and superintendence services support our clients across several key commodity markets (agriculture, coal, etc.) by representing and protecting their interests. Our representation ensures that quality and quantity requirements are supervised during loading or discharge. We are now looking to fill a new role of Inspection Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for heading up and managing the Inspections department and ensuring the highest standards of quality and integrity in commodity inspection services, providing excellent customer service and value to our clients. About the Role The postholder will be responsible for managing our inspection services across Australia, maintaining our stakeholder network and developing business opportunities across key regions. The Inspection Manager will play a key role in maximising productivity, diversification, and scalability and ensuring our services are delivered accurately and efficiently. Additionally, when required, the postholder may be required to undertake cargo inspection and loading supervision duties, so the Inspection Manager must have both an operational and business focus. Duties and Responsibilities Management Responsibilities Oversee Inspections department operations to ensure the business meets quality and delivery standards. Work with Senior Management to ensure that operational activities remain on time and within budget, and to translate business strategy into actionable steps for growth and/or improved efficiency of existing processes. Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with managers, staff, and stakeholders in a proactive, timely, and effective manner. Lead Inspections department team meetings and assist peers and colleagues where required. Support with the recruitment and onboarding of newcomers to the department. Provide support to team members to foster a highly inclusive culture. Lead the performance review process across the Inspections department. Foster effective collaboration between departments and cross-functional teams. Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures within the Inspections department. Client Relationship Management and Business Development Maintain our stakeholder network by acting as a key point of contact for clients. Collaborate with Senior Management and sales teams to understand client needs and contribute to business development efforts. Handle and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally. Operational Responsibilities Perform the inspection and sampling of agricultural and other commodities as per required standards and procedures. Surveying and superintendence of bulk vessel loading and discharge. Timely sample collection, preparation, and delivery for analysis. Ensure that all reports are completed and sent to the required personnel as per the required timeframes. Manage work hours within the National Employment Scheme (NES) and company policies. About You - Experience, Skills, Traits and Requirements Experience in agricultural soft commodity industries essential. Previous cargo inspection / terminal operations experience within agricultural commodities / coal essential. Experience working to and the maintenance of quality systems i.e. ISO 17020. Experience in team management and client relationship management. Self-driven, and proactive individual. Must have a car and a valid and current driver's license.
