About the Opportunity This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. This role will play a key role in the establishment of the Australian Shipbuilder (joint venture between ASC and BAE), that will eventually build Australia’s SSN-AUKUS submarines. The Intellectual Property Specialist will oversee the management and protection of intellectual property assets, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance on IP matters to support the organisation's objectives. Responsibilities Develop and implement IP strategies that align with organizational goals and protect IP assets. Manage IP and information registers, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Provide IP-related advice and support to internal teams. Ensure compliance with contract obligations, IP laws, and regulations. Conduct IP training and awareness programs. Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis. About you Bachelor’s degree in Law, Intellectual Property, or a related field. Professional certification in Intellectual Property (e.g., Registered Patent Attorney) is preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in intellectual property management, preferably within the defense or maritime industry. Strong knowledge of intellectual property laws and regulations. Proven experience in developing and implementing IP strategies. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
