Interim Chief Technology Officer/Head of Engineering - equity based About the company and job A visionary Presales oriented tech organisation is seeking an Interim CTO with a passion for innovation and drive to make an impact in the training and development of The Umdenken platform. With the development of U Learn, our own virtual learning platform, we are embarking on a new journey requiring an Interim CTO to oversee all technology decisions to drive development progress. Our clients vary from international organisations in the software vendor world and services consultancies and channel delivery partners. We focus on providing the world best behavioural and transformational skills for professionals in sales. We bridge the gaps between modern technical sales methodologies and traditional human interactions to build life-long relationships. The Role As the CTO, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for driving the firm’s overall technology strategy. You will engage in a pivotal role in setting, managing and executing the technology roadmap. You’ll collaborate with business stakeholders and lead tech teams, whether internal or outsourced. Key Responsibilities - Technical Take full ownership of the technology strategy in alignment with business goals, guiding the design, architecture and key decisions alongside the development team to drive innovative and scalable solutions. Lead the transformation of the firm’s IT infrastructure, ensuring robust systems, security, scalability and optimal uptime. Identify and adopt cutting-edge technology tools to optimise the service delivery to our clients and streamline processes. Plan and define the architecture of the platform, and lead the creation of the MVP through hands on coding and collaboration with a team of internal or offshore developers. Coach and manage the IT and technology teams with the vision to drive innovation and end-user simplification. Collaborate with leadership to identify technological solutions for improving client services and overall platform performance. Oversee IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective investment in technology. Ensure compliance with industry Enterprise norms and security requirements in all tech-related processes. Build relationships with third-party technology vendors and manage service agreements. The role reports to the Managing Director. Other Key Responsibilities - Non-Technical Serve as a co-founder and executive partner to the Managing Director assisting in shaping company strategy and the technical vision while participating in building conviction in the market and customers. Uphold and promote the company’s values, vision and mission, integrating these principles into strategic decisions and daily operations to support a unified and purpose-driven culture. Lead teams using a modern, coaching-focused management style that prioritises development, empowering through autonomy and encourages collaborative problem-solving to achieve high-impact results. Represent the company at sponsored events by delivering presentations, speaking at conferences and supporting booth activities as needed to strengthen our brand and industry connections. Contribute to company website articles, ensuring content aligns with the business’s focus and values. Develop revenue-generating online content with a thought-leadership focus, keeping in mind the direct reporting line to the revenue generation division and aligning strategies to drive business growth. Collaborate with the Managing Director on product management strategy; mapping business value and functionality requirements into product features prioritising to meet milestone deliverables. Key Requirements Proven experience in a CTO or senior technology role, ideally within a corporate environment, product vendor and/or consultancy (ideally tier 1). Familiarity with modern technologies, frameworks and tools used across the entire stack, specifically DBMS, AI, LLM and NLP, Linux, Android and iOS operating systems. Systems Design/Architecture experience with excellent understanding of building database systems combining innovative technologies (Vector, NoSQL and RDBMS). Experience with architecting payments solutions such as Stripe. Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience. Strong expertise in developing and executing technology strategies that align with business objectives. Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and drive innovation. A strong problem solver with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business opportunities. The role is 100% equity based - the equity will be negotiated during the interview process and will come into effect after 6 months of successful probation period. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, being part-time at The Umdenken and enterprise experience.
