Introduction The BBC News website is one of the world’s largest and most popular news sites, with mobile and desktop editions for UK and International audiences. We are expanding our digital news operation in Sydney, recruiting digital journalists to cover international and UK news in text and video. The team will take over coverage from digital output teams in the UK and US to drive the biggest global stories as they happen. It will work closely with teams in London, Washington DC, and Singapore, alongside a small team of journalists already based in Sydney covering Australian news. The team will be expected to run live pages on the biggest moving stories, produce news stories and sharp angles in text and video, curate different editions of the website and the BBC News app, and work with BBC correspondents and reporters worldwide. Main Responsibilities Journalists for the BBC’s Digital Output team based in Sydney will be critical for writing news stories, live pages, and producing video coverage of the biggest daily news in the UK and globally. A Journalist on the News team will be expected to write accurate, engaging news stories or produce timely digital video. You will have a love of news and current affairs, sharp reporting skills, and a thoughtful approach to storytelling. Tasks will range from writing breaking news, live pages, news stories, cutting short video clips, making short video edits, and writing news features on major rolling stories. Journalists will monitor social and search trends and stay across audience data to help improve storytelling. Are you the right candidate?
