Centred around peer-to-peer learning and community, the membership represents a collection of individuals who are passionate about building, investing, and growing innovative tech companies of substance. We are looking for an Event Manager to join our small and vibrant team. Reporting to our Head of Experience, you will help both design our annual events program, consisting of ~50 events/yr, and deliver exceptional event experiences for our exclusive membership communities. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for: Collaborating across our team to help set the annual event strategy and calendar of events for each of our 4 Communities. Designing, planning, and delivering incredible event experiences - spanning networking dinners, intimate small group retreats, large scale multi-day events, and everything in between. Tightly managing individual and annual event budgets to ensure profitability. Working with our team to continue building streamlined, repeatable processes and documentation to drive efficiency for the business. Engaging with external stakeholders to negotiate robust vendor relationships and preferred supplier status to deliver cost savings. Continuously looking for new and innovative ways to engage our membership by crafting unique experiences. Acting as a key player in our small but growing team. In order to achieve the above, we believe you will need to have: A minimum of 1 year experience in planning, scheduling, and running complex events and the ability to work in a small, busy team with demanding timelines. A relevant business/tertiary qualification preferred. Demonstrated ability to create, monitor, and evaluate a budget. Impeccable time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritise tasks efficiently. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work with a diverse team and multiple interests to find common ground. Being able to demonstrate how you continuously review and prioritise activities and focus to drive outcomes. Excellent communication skills, in creating compelling narratives, discussions, topics, and themes, knowing when and how to send these communications to get people engaged and active in the process. Display high level judgement and decision making ability. A pragmatic ‘hands-on’ approach with the ability to work collaboratively with strong adaptability skills. Ability to thrive under pressure and demonstrate flexibility to meet tight deadlines. Possess a passion for startups and working with founders and investors. Have a fun, playful, and professional demeanour. We love what we do, but we don’t take things too seriously. A team player, who is willing to be vulnerable and actively seeks insights and feedback from their colleagues. It’s hard not to love what we do when we make such a positive impact and get to work with such amazing people. We work remotely, which means in order to succeed you need to work autonomously and be a self-starter with drive. That is not to say this role is unsupported, but it's important to understand that as a small organisation many of our processes and systems are informal, rather than prescribed. If this type of role is of interest, then we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, reach out for an informal chat.
